After the establishment of the medical school and its independence from Dar al-Funun organization in 1297 and because the hospitals of Tehran were not sufficient for clinical training of students and responding to patients, and the medical school could not fulfill its responsibilities effectively, therefore the government at that time On the 23rd of Bahman 1306 (H) he decided to build a 500-bed hospital (former Pahlavi and current Imam Khomeini) in order to provide a suitable place for the education of students and for the health department to be able to respond to the patients who will increase due to the population growth. was be

After the land was purchased in 1308, the Health Department and the Ministry of Finance began to build a hospital, which was initially named as the Five Hundred Bed Hospital. However, due to unknown reasons, no specific action is taken to build a hospital until 1315.

With the start of the Second World War and the entry of the Allied Forces into Iran, the construction of the hospital was stopped and it was occupied by the Allied Forces. The occupation of the hospital continued until 1325, which is the end of the Second World War. With the departure of the allied forces from the country and in order to start the hospital faster, the hospital was provided with equipment and financial resources by the government.

There is no reliable information about the exact opening date of the hospital. Probably, the official opening for its reopening has not been done, maybe the reason for this is due to the special conditions after the war in the country of Boh. However, according to the evidence, from the end of 1325 to 1327, hospital departments were gradually moved to this place and Or new departments were established in it.

At the time of its operation, this hospital included the buildings of the central building (Imam Hospital), the western building (infectious department building) and the eastern building (Cancer Institute) and facilities such as a sound system, an ice factory, a mechanical and turning workshop, a center It has a phone with a capacity of 300 internal numbers and 7 external numbers

This 5-story hospital along with the building of infectious departments on its western side has undergone many changes in the way different departments are located over time.
